MARB releases its draft accreditation and rating framework — 11 criteria, 78 parameters — for consultation. It remains in draft.
Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025 notified, replacing the 2022 teacher-eligibility rules.
UG-MSR 2023 amended: 150-seat cap and population ratio removed; college-to-hospital distance set at 10 km (15 km in North-Eastern and Himalayan states).
Annual Disclosure Report for 2026–27 seat renewal due on the NMC portal, with no extension, no edits after submission, and AEBAS registration required to log in.
NExT rollout remains deferred; NEET-PG continues.

What is the MARB framework?
MARB, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board, released a draft accreditation and rating framework for medical colleges on 10 May 2025: 11 criteria and 78 evaluation parameters totalling 1,000 points.
What does the Annual Disclosure Report require?
Under Regulation 4 of MSMER 2023, every medical college with a Letter of Permission files an Annual Disclosure Report on the NMC portal to renew its MBBS seats — faculty strength, infrastructure, hospital facilities and intake. Data must be consistent across NMC boards and cannot be edited after submission, and colleges without AEBAS registration cannot access the portal.
What changed in NMC norms in April 2026?
NMC amended UG-MSR 2023 to remove the 150-seat cap on MBBS intake and the rule linking seats to 100 per 10 lakh population, and replaced the 30-minute travel rule with a 10 km limit between college and hospital (15 km in North-Eastern and Himalayan states).
